GMU goes to Croatia for the 13th international conference “Challenges of Europe”

The University of Split, Faculty of Economics, Business and Tourism, hosted the 13th International Conference “Challenges of Europe” on May 22-24, 2019 in the beautiful island of Bol, island Brač.
Over the last two decades, this biennial conference has become an important meeting point between scholars and practitioners from different countries, cultures, and backgrounds who wish to discuss the issues affecting the present European economic system as a pivotal global player.

The guiding theme of this year three-day conference was “Growth, Competitiveness, Innovation, and Well-being”, and saw the participation of notable Harvard Professors including Prof. Eric Maskin, Nobel Laureate in Economics 2007; Prof. of Economics Oliver Hart, Nobel Laureate in Economics 2007; Prof. Olivier Blanchard, President of the American Economic Association and Prof. Edward Glaeser, Leading world expert in urban topics. Nonetheless, other distinguished experts speakers were Prof. Koen Pauwels, Worldwide expert in marketing productivity, metrics and social media; Debora Revoltella, Chief Economist at the European Investment Bank (EIB) and Prof. Sergei Guriev, Chief Economist at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). Last but not least, Dr. Arturo Lavalle, Head of the R&D Area at Guglielmo Marconi University, participated as a guest speaker at the “Challenges of Europe” with a significant contribution: “A human-centered society: education at the core of innovation and future work” (Arturo Lavalle, Casale Oliviero). The three-day conference was divided into plenary and individual sessions, papers and workshops presentations and research findings, ensuring a 360° cutting-edge understanding of the topics debated and knowledge promulgated.

Dr. Arturo Lavalle and Dr. Susanna Correnti, from the Research and Development Area, also participated, during the same period, at FINAC project study visit organized by the University of Split mentioned above. FINAC’s study visit consisted of presenting and analyzing the results obtained by the Master in “Financial Management, Accounting and Controlling” launched in Serbian and Albanian Universities.
