Guglielmo Marconi University TOP performer in the 2020 International U-Multirank Ranking

U-Multirank - a European Commission supported higher education ranking system. It compares the performances of higher education institutions in the five dimensions of university activity: (1) teaching and learning, (2) research, (3) knowledge transfer, (4) international orientation and (5) regional engagement.

Guglielmo Marconi University is one of the top 25 performers in the U-Multirank 2020 in three categories:

U-Multirank 2020 - Open Access Pubblications
open access publications (Research),
i.e. the percentage of academic publications available in "Open Access" journals;
U-Multirank 2020 - International Joint Publications
international joint publications (International Orientation),
i.e. the percentage of scientific publications whose at least one of the authors is located in another country;
U-Multirank 2020 - Regional Joint Publications
regional joint publications (Regional Engagement),
i.e. the percentage of scientific publications of the department that have at least one co-author located in the same region of the University.

This extraordinary result confirms the university's great commitment in the research and international orientation.

Important scientific acknowledgement for Marconi academic magazine Areté.

On 7th April 2020, the Italian institute ANVUR (Agenzia Nazionale di Valutazione del Sistema Universitario e della Ricerca) informed our University about the results of a highly relevant evaluation process: “Areté. International Journal of Philosophy, Human & Social Sciences” was included in the scientific Index of the academic journals. In particular, Areté is acknowledged as an international scientific journal in the following fields of research: Area 10 (Antiquities, Philology, Literary Studies, Art History), Area 11 (History, Philosophy, Pedagogy and Psychology), Area 14 (Political and Social Sciences).

Launch of Trust Project in London: a new Master in Financial Technology

The European Commission – in conjunction with the ERASMUS+ programme and with the Capacity Building in the Field of Higher Education 2019 – launched a great initiative lead by Guglielmo Marconi University, the TRUST European project (2020-2022): Financial Technology and digital innovation to modeRnise and develop cUrricula of VietnameSe and Philippines UniversiTies. TRUST triggered the interest of multiple European universities and organizations, including Serbia, UK, and Vietnam and Philippines as targeted Asian countries. TRUST involves as Higher Education representatives the University if Belgrade (RS) and Glasgow Caledonia University (UK), three universities from the Philippines (University of Cebu, Saint Louis University, Mapua University) and three universities from VietNam (University of Economics and Business of Vietnam National University, Hue College of Economics, Ho Chi Minh City Open University).

Each year Guglielmo Marconi University helps multiple students find the traineeship of their dreams. It is an arduous yet extremely gratifying task for the Erasmus team at GMU to achieve this annual objective. This year we would like to share the story of Giuseppe Caminiti, who recently graduated in Computer Engineering at GMU. Benedetta Canacari, responsible of the Erasmus+ program, had the immense pleasure to meet Mr. Caminiti in 2016, during Career Day. He showed unparalleled motivation and curiosity for the various opportunities and different institutions that were presented to him during the event. Mr. Caminiti was particularly interested in the Fachhochschule Technikum Wien University, where he ended up spending his student mobility for study in 2018. This period marked an extremely crucial moment of Mr. Caminiti’s academic path, who often refers to it as the most important experience of his life. During this time at Technikum Wien University, he had the chance to put into practice all the precious knowledge acquired, breaking the boundaries of his comfort zone. Thanks to his commitment and remarkable curiosity Mr. Caminiti received an important recognition for his academic career abroad. We firmly believe that it is very important for students to experience different realities during their studies, it is a challenging opportunity that allows them to break out of their comfort zone, interact with an international environment, create a useful network of acquaintances, and possibly learn a new language.

Half a Classroom, Second Edition: a new adventure has started!

The Second Edition of HALF A CLASSROOM (HC) |Building Open Works, for the a.y. 2019-2020, begun on October 9, 2019 with a fascinating seminar dedicated to the labyrinth myth. Silvia Paris, coordinator of the meeting, carried out both the theoretical part, focusing on the relation between philosophy and poetry, and the performative part, an astute commingling of poetic texts chant and of literary readings that accompanied us in the meanders of this complex and dense theme. The program, revolving around ten monthly meetings, covers different artistic fields: singing and theater; sculpture and photography; museum house and poetry; dancing, painting and storytelling. Thanks to the double format envisioned by HC, each encounter foresees a theoretical report and a performative art workshop. These artistic practices offer inedited perspectives, illuminating the underlying theoretical dimension, whereas the theoretical part feeds, in a way, on these, acquiring a concrete meaning by dialoguing with the artistic exemplification.
