Starting from 2014 the Marconi University coordinates the UNIfHY project. The initiative aims to develop a biomass steam gasification process joined to syngas purification to produce pure hydrogen from biomass, increase well-to-tank efficiency and contribute to a sustainable energy portfolio. The results obtained in past R&D EU projects on hot gas catalytic conditioning will be exploited, utilizing plant components of proven performance and reliability and well established processes as UNIQUE coupled gasification and hot gas cleaning and conditioning system, Water-Gas Shift system and Pressure Swing Adsorption system.


Large Scale Experimentation Scenarios to Mainstream eLearning in Science, Mathematics and Technology in Primary and Secondary Schools

The ISE project involves thirty partners from fifteen European countries and promotes the adoption of large-scale e-learning tools and resources in science education. The project means to apply the Inquiry Based Science Education methodology in science education, by exploiting a series of technological tools and digital resources which are collected in an online platform.

Through the platform, teachers can access interactive simulations, educational games and use remote laboratories by merging the use of these instruments in their current curricular activities. ISE also provides an evaluation system, based on the PISA 2020 framework, able to evaluate the advancement of students’ ability to problem solving, as well as the professional development of teachers involved.


Enhancing Quality of Technology-Enhanced Learning at Jordanian Universities

eQTeL is a Structural Measures project which addresses Governance Reform under the theme: Introduction of Quality Assurance. This is a national priority for Jordan. The project means to modernize and reform teaching methodologies. eQTel has been designed to improve the quality and relevance of technology-enhanced Jordan learning trough developing and implementing new accreditation standards, guidelines and procedures for distance learning study programs according to EU practices. This proposal has been supported by Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research as well as the Higher Education Accreditation Commission. eQTeL focuses on developing a quality assurance framework to foster technology-enhanced learning in university education in Jordan, and establishing a sustainable capacity building program to facilitate the use of technology in education.


European Personal Branding for Employment

The project EPBE, coordinated by UDIMA - Universidad a Distancia de Madrid, is aimed at promoting the development of an online personal brand and the exploitation of Web 2.0 techniques for job-seeking. The personal branding refers to marketing strategies for personal promotion in the labour market.
The use of Personal branding is either reinforced by the increased utilization of social media and Web 2.0 (online websites and personal profiles in the social media). By means of the main results of the projects i.e. the guidelines for the schools on personal branding and job hunting 2.0, the online course Personal Branding, the online course Job Hunting 2.0 (MOOC), the Methodological Manual on Distance Learning for Personal Branding and online Job-Hunting, EPBE improves the digital competencies necessary to search for a job in accordance with own competencies facilitating the access to the labour market. Moreover, EPBE aims at removing the barriers to learning through a pedagogical approach focused on the Open Educational Resources (OER).


Digital skills for employability and social inclusion

According to recent studies, more than 90% of job vacancies require digital competencies and approximately 900.000 professionals in Europe, amongst them lot of young people, don’t have the essential competencies to work in the ICT sector with the consequent risk of to be professionally excluded. In this context EMPLOY project, coordinated by the Governmental Organisation Istanbul Valiligi , wishes to enhance digital literacy of primary and lower secondary school students complying with the requirements of the labour market. EMPLOY particularly focused its attention to the young at risk of social exclusion, drop outs, migrants and people with socio-economic difficulties.
EMPLOY develops an active learning system with the aim to transfer and increase the digital competencies requested by ICT sector and connected sectors as well. The suggested methodology is validated by means of a serious game designed according to school programs and professional requirements come from the labour market.

Sustainability Awareness Mobilization Environment in the global education for EYD 2015

SAME WORLD project, coordinated by CIES – Information and Education to Development Centre ONLUS is aimed at sensitising students and teachers on the interdependency between Southern Countries and Northern ones with a specific focus on environmental Justice and the adoption of sustainable lifestyles.
In particular, the project is focused on two themes: the environmental changes and the conditions of environmental refugees. Those themes are discussed within the school involving secondary school’s teachers and the students. The project activities include: the development of an online platform and Digital Storytelling laboratories, the development of an online course for teachers, educators and parents on specific topics such as Justice and Environmental Migration, the organisation of seminars and international round tables. In 2015, SAME WORD has joined the famous Expo in Milan with thematic seminars and an exhibition focused on Justice and sustainable nutrition.


Accessibility and Harmonization of Higher Education In Central Asia through Curriculum Modernization and Development

ACADEMICA project, coordinated by Burgas Free University, is aimed to share experiences and innovative learning methods. Those tools and procedures have been developed in Europe in cooperation with the Asian countries such as Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan. In fact, they need and ask to innovate the University curriculum and the didactic methodology, in particular in Engineering Sciences. The innovative features are witnessed by the introduction of a new methodology essentially based on Information and Communication Technologies and the development of a transnational cooperation between Universities and enterprises reinforcing the ongoing innovation between research and companies, between Education and Labour market.

The UCCrowd project is led by ISCTE – University Institute of Lisbon and includes thirteen partner organizations from across Europe including seven higher education institutions, five commercial organization’s and one research centre. The project aims to strengthen links between companies and Higher Education Institutions by using a crowdsourcing platform. The project allows companies to share their problems with universities and encourages European professors and students to identify innovative solutions for them. Crowdsourcing is an open opportunity to make people experience new creative ways to solve problems.


Towards an Internationalisation of Higher Education Network for the Meda Region

TIES, coordinated by University of Alicante, contributes to the development of international relations management of Higher Education Institutions in the MEDA region, in particular Algeria, Tunisia, Lebanon, Egypt, Morocco, and Jordan. The project partnership comprises three European organizations with expertise in institutional internationalization and twelve partners from the MEDA Region. The project focuses on strengthening the management capacities of staff from partner universities, and means to build efficient structures for international relations. The project includes different types of actions, including onsite observation sessions, human resources development, drafting strategic internationalization plans for participant institutions and establishing a formalized regional network dedicated to internationalization.
All the activities are designed to be complementary and drive the participants towards an innovative and combined approach to internationalization.

The project core objective was to gather the main tools and recommendations related to existing modern EU qualifications and turn them into one integrated standard which was both ambitious and feasible for wider application in Financial Services Sector (FSS).

Open Educational Practices: a bottom-up approach in Latin America and Europe to develop a common Higher Education Area

Guglielmo Marconi University is the coordinator of OPORTUNIDAD project which intended to strengthen and sustain the European and Latin American Common Higher Education Area by increasing the use of open educational practices and resources (OEP & OER). The project contributed to raise awareness and widen Universities’ participation in open educational practices and resources and also defined the OER Agenda for the re-use of OER at institutional level . The project’s activities included the definition of a mid-term strategic roadmap for the implementation of the OER Agenda at local-institutional level, the training of teachers on how to use and reuse OER in a pedagogically-rich context, the piloting of start-up open educational practices with a linkage to the international community and to the job market.

La Universidad en el campo: Programa de Formación Superior Agropecuario para jóvenes rurales

UNICA project, coordinated by the Colombian Universidad de Caldas, supported the development of Higher Education in Latin America as a means to contribute to the economic and social development of the Region. The project contributed to establish and implement a rural Higher Education program linked to secondary education, which facilitates university enrolment for young people from rural areas. In addition, it built up a network of Latin American and European Universities to foster cultural and knowledge exchange between teachers and students. The project envisaged the increasing of social cohesion thanks to access to higher education for highly vulnerable populations (rural youth, rural communities), the cooperation with the rural research and productive sector through practical activities, the contribution to the higher education modernization by means of the creation of university networks.

EUROVERSITY, coordinated by University of Hull, was a network of eighteen partners come from ten European countries (United Kingdom, France, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Austria, Portugal, Cyprus, Germany), and a third country partner, Israel. The network consisted of a group of organizations that had significant experience of the use of 2D/3D virtual worlds in learning and teaching contexts. It consisted also in a smaller number of partners with less experience wishful to transfer the knowhow of the network in designing virtual world’ courses in their own contexts. Finally, the network consisted of other institutions that had no direct experience of virtual world education but had a specific interest in education, media and transformation of knowledge. The project intended to share experiences by using online virtual platforms to support educational provision and transfer Knowledge focused on the transfer of the experiential content into guidance.

Teaching mAths through innovative LEarning approach and contents

TALETE project, coordinated by Guglielmo Marconi University, was a multilateral project funded under the Lifelong Learning Programme targeting primary and secondary school learners. Results from international surveys of school students’ performance in mathematics showed that students in many European countries do not perform satisfactorily. TALETE increased mathematics education in some of the underperforming European countries. The project was aimed at improving the quality and efficiency of education and training as follows: identifying and developing teaching and learning methods in the field of mathematics with a focus on geometry; improving the quality of learning in order to support the development of students’ basic and transversal competences; improving the attractiveness and efficiency of education through 3D virtual worlds; supporting schools to establish partnerships and improving teachers’ and pupils’ skills to promote European integration.

The main objective of RIGHTS project, coordinated by Guglielmo Marconi University, was to implement an innovative didactic methodology that could promote the Education for Global Citizenship, or Global citizenship education through the use of digital storytelling approach, by enhancing interactive teaching and learning across countries and cultures in secondary schools in Europe. RIGHTS project was aimed at: promoting Global Citizenship Education in the EU secondary schools curriculum; delivering innovative ICT based tools to enhance teaching and learning that foster initiative, innovation, creativity and adaptation to the rapidly changing world of work in globalized societies; delivering a training methodology through new learning approaches based on digital competences, as well as social and civic competences and cultural awareness and expression.

plaGiarism or crEativity: teachiNg Innovation versUs Stealing

GENIUS project, coordinated by Guglielmo Marconi University, was aimed at strengthening students' transversal skills in secondary schools and at providing innovative and attractive learning pathways coping with the emerging issues due to digital fluency. Teachers and students attended a specific Multilingual online course about Copyrights, Plagiarism, WEB Fair use, Open Source, Pedagogical Methodologies to support creativity and Creative writing. As a second learning stage a transnational students' competition was launched. The winner team detected Plagiarism of the rival team improving learning skills, social and civic competences, sense of initiative, cultural awareness and expression, English and Digital skills. Students further learnt and contributed to "My Myths" collection, a database of the most popular people who work hard to think up genius innovations. Finally, an ethic code, "Code to be Genius" was developed as a reference model behaviour for all.


Serious Games for Situated Learning of Vehicular Languages Addressing Work Needs

SiLang project, coordinated by Thessaly University, was aimed at increasing efficiency in business communication, competitiveness, and employability; at personalizing language learning as well as enhancing appreciation of the cultural and linguistic wealth of Europe. SiLang intended to reinforce language competence necessary in the workplace through serious gaming by promoting language training that familiarizes learners with cultural, societal, and work aspects in various contexts The main project outcomes included: a situated, mobile-enabled serious game for language learning on business communication; adaptable learning activities that immerse learners into rich cultural and work related experiences; good practices on deployment, and targeting trainers.


Key Methodology to successful Competence Based Learning

KEYS project, coordinated by the Bulgarian organization Intercultural Co-operation Foundation, intended to valorize and promote the results achieved by five previous Comenius Multilateral Projects focused on the acquirement of key competences for Lifelong Learning. In such a way it intended to provide support to teachers and school educators for the implementation of competence based education able to respond to the requirements of contemporary life. KEYS partners intend to take a closer look at the methodology grounds of the products and outcomes developed within these projects and promote to a larger extent most suitable methodologies for successful competence based learning. The project identified SUSTAIN, AQUEDUCT, KeyTTT, READIT and IdiaL, they have been disseminated through four National Interactive Seminars organized in Turkey, Bulgaria, Italy and Belgium.

STRATEGICOM, coordinated by Marconi University, has developed, in accordance of Algeria’s priorities of University Management, services for students and development of International Relations within TEMPUS Programme. To keep pace in the ongoing global changes of higher education and in order to respond more effectively to external collaboration requests, Algerian universities will be equipped with a system that allows them to take decisive, effectively and efficiently action.
The project outlined a communication strategy based on an analysis of best practices selected in European Universities and based on the training of relevant university personnel involved. The most important result was a Recommendation Paper presented to the Ministry of Higher Education for its approval. Through the participation and endorsement of the Ministry of Higher Education, the Recommendation Paper become a tool for the reform of the Algerian higher education structure.

EU TUNE project, promoted by Marconi University, was aimed at creating a community of secondary schools students from EU Member States, candidate and potential candidate partner countries composing the Adriatic Ionian Euroregion: Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia and Montenegro. The proposal was focused on the Adriatic region in order to strengthen the relationships among neighbour States and to increase the mutual awareness of next generation through the promotion of a digital language and a web-based communication system.
The project was aimed at making young students talk about their everyday life, the cultural and natural heritage of their country, hopes and expectations issuing from the forthcoming European enlargement, preconceptions and stereotypes related to their country and how to face them. The aim of the project was to make young people "talk" through the digital storytelling language, in order to prevent the growing up of preconceptions and stereotypes or to delete the existing ones.

Training teachers to make READing fun through digital storytelling

READ IT project, coordinated by Marconi University, was aimed to cope with the lack of ICT use in European schools. The core aim of READ IT was to enhance the quality of teaching and education in secondary schools through the introduction of novel pedagogical approaches and practices. The main objective was to develop teachers’ skills and practice through the inclusion of ICT tools and digital storytelling techniques in classroom, specifically, to produce book trailers as a means of promoting engagement with reading and writing. READ IT was addressed to secondary schools teachers and students come from the five partner countries: Italy, Denmark, Romania, Turkey and Unite Kingdom. The project multi-actor partnership consisted of seven organizations among universities, publishers, secondary schools and non for profit organizations.

EL Gate project, coordinated by G. Marconi University, was aimed at strengthening the management and governance of Latin American Universities in identifying and implementing cooperation activities. Specifically, it strived to improve the capacities of International Department managers of Latin American Universities to design and implement a more effective and efficient university cooperation model, recognized and formalized into the university organization chart, integrated into the university development strategic lines, and able to put resources in action (human, technologic and financial) to run cooperation activities.


Implement Agriculture Qualifications

ImpAQ project, coordinated by Marconi University, identified and analysed national Qualifications within the Agricultural sector in order to compare and link them to the European Qualifications Framework (EQF). Although Qualifications within the Agricultural sector in Europe shared a common base, each country represented significant geographical differences that result in variable Learning Outcomes. ImpAQ recognized the importance of researching different national qualifications in order to contribute to the comparative analysis at national and European level. The project’s target group was composed by: National Coordination Points for the EQF; institutional bodies; schools; vocational training agencies; higher education institutions, farmer associations guilds.
The main project results and products included: a Sample Qualifications Inventory concerning the Agricultural sector; a range of issues and scenarios of possible solutions to develop comparability of Qualifications in Agriculture.


STreet ARTists in a virtual space

ST.ART project, coordinated by Marconi University, was aimed at raising young students’ awareness on street art forms as opposed to vandalism. The project encouraged wider arts participation, creative teaching and learning. It promoted creative sense of entrepreneurship in a new education environment through the arts, and the development of new skills that includes: creative thinking, decision-making, negotiation and collaboration, team work, leadership, commitment, research and development in communication, as well as IT skills.
In details ST.ART educational model merge three education areas made up of three main learning sessions: e-course, art works performed in a 3D virtual space and a social area. ST.ART project was aimed to provide an innovative learning platform for contemporary art to young students of secondary schools and encourages creative teaching and learning through a new integrated methodology that combined Web 2.0 and a 3D virtual world, learning and games.

SEEP was aimed at secondary science teachers, students guidance officers, trainers, school managers and science students in Europe.
